Our role in sustainable logistics

Urban mobility is a critical component of modern logistics, particularly as cities grow and the demand for efficient transportation solutions increases. At BPD we strive to develop innovative urban mobility strategies that not only enhance our operational efficiency but also support sustainability in urban environments.

Leveraging efficient routing and technology

To optimise our delivery routes, we use advanced route planning technologies that minimize travel distances and reduce fuel consumption in the process. This speeds up delivery time while significantly lowering our carbon footprint, contributing to cleaner urban air.

Investing in eco–friendly vehicles

In our journey to sustainability, we’re progressively expanding our fleet with electric and hybrid models. These vehicles emit fewer greenhouse gases compared to traditional diesel trucks, making them ideal for urban areas where there are concerns for air quality and noise pollution.

Collaborating for last-mile solutions

The last-mile delivery segment is often the most challenging in urban logistics due to traffic congestion and access restrictions. Through exploring partnerships with local courier services and alternative transport options, such as cargo bikes, to provide efficient and environmentally friendly solutions.

Enhancing urban warehousing efficiency

Our urban warehouses reduce the need for long-distance transportation, ensuring that goods are stored closer to end users. This enables quicker response times and more flexibility in meeting customers’ demands.

Promoting pallet pooling and shared resources

To enhance sustainability, we advocate for pallet pooling systems, which allow for multiple businesses to share pallet resources.  This reduces the number of pallets required, minimizes waste, and improves the efficiency of urban freight transport.

Supporting Smart City Initiative

Our company is also aligned with broader smart city initiatives that aim to integrate technology and data to improve urban living. We fully support efforts to develop infrastructure that facilitates electric vehicle charging and smart traffic management systems, contributing to urban mobility.
